Dr. Javier R. Goicoechea, CSIC Staff Scientist.

Research interests:

–  Molecular Astrophysics. Radioastronomy. Far-IR astrophysics. Physics and chemistry of the interstellar and circumstellar media, photo-dissociation regions, star-forming regions, and Galatic Center.

–  Observational: Far-IR (ISO, Herschel, SOFIA, etc.), submm  (IRAM, ALMA, etc.), and mid-IR (Spitzer, JWST, and others).

–  Astrochemical models: Radiative transfer and PDRs.

  •  Principal Investigator of two research projects funded by the Spanish MINECO: Astrofísica Molecular: Una nueva visión del Universo en la era de Herschel y Alma” (AYA2009-07304; 312.180€) and “Fisicoquímica del Medio interestelar y Circunestelar en la era de ALMA” (AYA2012-32032; 369.720€).
  • Marie Curie Individual fellowship (150.000€) at the Observatoire de Paris and l’Ecole normale supérieure (2005-2007).

Use of telescopes:

Principal Investigator of several observing campaigns using international astronomical instrumentation:

IRAM (15), Herschel (2), ALMA (3). Co-I in several Herschel (ESA) guaranteed- and open-time proposals. Co-I of a Large Impact Program with SOFIA/upGREAT,  and of a Large Program with IRAM-30m.

Awards:

Prize of the Société Française d’Astronomie & d’Astrophysique and Sociedad Española de Astronomía for outstanding achievements in a French-Spanish scientific cooperation (together with Jerome  Pety, IRAM).
